“Ascend” was a collaborative project with two classmates to develop an infinite-runner-style mobile game for the Android Platform.

Ascend features a fallen hero, trying to reach the top of a dark and perilous tower, riddled with perilous traps and mechanisms, and plagued by shadowy creatures that want to drag the hero back down to the bottom. The player assumes the role of the hero’s “guardian,” using touch controls to activate and deactivate traps, use light magic to dispel the shadow creatures, and guide the hero to safety.

Our team collaborated heavily on the mechanics design and aesthetic vision of Ascend. During development, I was responsible for programming the mechanics of the game, including: procedural generation of the map, and interactions with gameplay elements such as the traps and shadow creatures.
